In this webinar, Sarah presents a full rhythm sequence for Reading & Writing Music Notation Book 1, from reading and writing familiar Duple Meter Macrobeat/microbeat patterns to creating and notating Triple Meter Division patterns. By learning how to use each page to it's fullest potential, teachers will be prepared to lead their students through Symbolic Association, Composite Synthesis, Generalization, and beyond.

Meet the Presenter

Sarah Boyd believes that musicians are people who make music, and everyone can learn to participate in music making.  Sarah leads Piano Vine Studio, an audiation-based private and group piano studio for students of all ages, both in-person and online. 

Sarah was introduced to Music Moves for Piano by her piano professor, Dr. Garik Pedersen, at Eastern Michigan University, in 2007. She completed the PDLC through the Gordon Institute of Music Learning,  Early Childhood Level 1, with Dr. Edwin Gordon and Dr. Cynthia Taggart teaching, in 2008. She is extremely grateful to have met Marilyn Lowe beginning in 2010 and was mentored by her, as were so many others. Sarah completed the GIML Piano Level 1 PDLC in 2022. 

In 2010, she founded Hummingbirds Music Together, an early childhood music program for children and the grownups who love them. She is on staff as the Lead Teaching Artist for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, writing curriculum, leading teacher workshops, and leading group music experiences for classrooms in and around Detroit.

Sarah holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Dducation and is currently completing a Master's degree in Music Education at Eastern Michigan University with Dr. Heather Shouldice. She completed a Graduate Certificate in Injury-Preventive Well-Coordinated Keyboard Technique with Dr. Lister-Sink at Salem College in 2022. 

Sarah and her husband, Ryan, enjoy music making with their children Julia, JP, Luke, and Wesley.
